Week 3 Term 1

Take a peek at our 'full house', It is good to have all our Room 10 friends fully on board now
This week we have really got into the swing of using play dough to practice our letter sounds and tricky words

With the summer finally having decided to stay we were able to start exploring some cooling water play.
We were thinking about spiders this week and learned some good turn taking skills playing this Incy Wincy Spider game.

Take a look at our thinking around comparing spiders and ants.
In Play Based Learning some great collaboration was going on...including the repair of broken cards.....

.......exciting 'pipe' constructions........
 
 and marvellous marble runs.
Some awesome observational skills were being developed at the painting table.
 
We have been learning more about composting and why we are using food scrap bins at school now. Click on the image below to watch the Peppa Pig clip we were watching.
Before the start of our literacy sessions each  day we have a thinkers game to get our brains warmed up. Here we are playing Secret Squares and thinking of good questions to ask.
With Sam we have been thinking about how many letters are in our names and making a giant pictogram to represent this.
Last Tuesday was a wonderful evening for the School Community Group Picnic. It was great to see Room 10 friends there with mums, dads, aunties and brothers!

On Friday afternoon we enjoyed a fun play with our Room 5 buddies.

The week finished with our first parent story telling session. Thanks to Oscar's mum for getting this going.

Week 2 Term 2

This week we started our Reading Rotation activities. These included using the Letter School app on the iPads......


 ....developing our fine motor skills and observational skills using Read and Draw sheets.....

 .......enjoying books in the Library Corner....

 ......... learning how to do a Rainbow Letter, and how to cut the middle out of an 'a' shape.
 With Sam we finger printed our names and painted egg cartons ready to make our ant models next week.

 On Thursday we had our first lesson of No Child Left Inside. Lots of fun was had by all and we made sure we were Sun Safe by wearing out hats.


Lots of collaboration, exploration and imagination was seen during play based learning at the start of the day.








  At the end of these sessions we have been developing our oral language by describing our creations and answering questions about them from our friends.


 We are trialing having our own spots on the mat next week, good job we took a photo to remember where we decided to sit!
