Week 8 and 9

There has been lots of talk around number over the last 2 weeks in Room 10.
We thought of some clever ways to find out how many pairs of shoes an octopus would need.

We continued our work on graphs by making a pictogram of all the foods 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar" enjoyed.
To end this maths unit we did a graphing assessment task.
We have also been practising writing and reading our numbers to 20.

This YouTube clip  was a favourite with everyone and helped us to read the number words as well. Just click on the link to play.
We linked our maths to our mini-beast topic using ladybirds to explore all the different ways to make 5

In literacy we have continued to build the number of sounds we can read and write....

....and have taken turns being the teacher to help our friends practise their sounds.
We used different ways to practise our high frequency words...
...and then used this knowledge to help us when we read our books to our friends and in our reading groups.

Last week we had a special treat when Tim the gardener came in to tell us all about worms.
Another treat on Thursday was a popcorn celebration of having reached 100 hits on our blog. Our next target is 500 so remember to send our blog link to family further afield, it is a great way for them to keep in touch with nephews and nieces or grand children.
Thanks to Hazel's mum who came in and read us a super bug story...it is always lovely to have other adults coming into read to us.
Our school week ended with a buddy time in the sun.....

...but we were still enjoying the sunny weather at Sunday's working bee for the Treemendous Garden Makeover. Thanks to everyone who was able to come along.
